The RHA T20i in-ear monitors (Gen. 2) are one of many options for audiophiles on-the-go. These in-ear monitors are very comfortable and offer high sound quality. They are not cheap and have to compete with wireless headphones. Is the T20i able to compete with cordless earbuds?

Design: Premium build quality

The T20i Gen. 2 is a great example of quality engineering and design. These earbuds have been made with great care to ensure that they will withstand heavy usage and time. Ear pieces made of stainless steel injection-molded are used. These earpieces are not only extremely durable but also fit perfectly in your ear.

The cords are made of extremely durable materials, including moldable over-ear hooks and thick, tough cords. Similar to the 3.5mm Jack, it is made of steel and has a spring mechanism that prevents wired connections from deteriorating. The earbuds can withstand all kinds of abuse and are built to last.

The downside of this robust design is its weight. These earbuds are very heavy and can drag on your ears due to the weight of the cable. This can be corrected by attaching the clip to the cable to your clothes, however, bulkiness and weight is not desirable in earbuds. The point of earbuds is compactness. They are too bulky to fit into pockets so you'll want them packed in the pouch.

The inline control dongle is very basic and typical—volume controls, play/pause, and virtual assistant activation can all be triggered with it, though we found that it was often strangely unreliable and unresponsive. Because the buttons aren't clearly marked, it can be difficult to find and use the buttons by touch.

The T20i Gen. 2, which includes so many customizable options, is one of its biggest strengths. There should be an option that suits your ears regardless of their size and shape. The inclusion of multiple styles will optimize your listening experience. It is also nice to have treble, reference and bass filters.

Luxury: Comfort for your ears

Premium stainless steel construction feels soft and comfortable against your skin. It fits comfortably inside your ears. The T20i Gen. 2 has a range of features that enhance comfort and fit. Moldable over-ear hooks, a large variety of included earpieces, and moldable, injection-molded metal ensure the maximum compatibility for all ears. Our ears were not stressed at all and we could listen for hours without any interruptions.

Excellent Sound Quality

The T20i Gen. 2, as it was called, sounds amazing. The earbuds produce audio almost flawlessly and provide an exceptional listening experience. Although they don't have the same audio quality as over-ear headphones in terms of sound quality, these earbuds are still superior to other earbuds. Tone quality is excellent, with clear, crisp tones that range from the bright, satisfying bass to high-pitched notes. The T20i Gen. 2 offered more depth and space than other headphones.

The earbuds produce audio with near perfect accuracy, and provide an exceptional listening experience.

The sound quality of the T20i Generation. 2 can also be customized, just like their fit. You can adjust the sound quality of your T20i Gen. 2 by using extra filters or earpieces. Although the effect is not noticeable but subtle, we prefer the reference-style filters for the middle of the road to the bass and treble.

The microphone built in mic provided excellent audio quality that allowed hands-free communication. The T20i was a great option for commuters or anyone needing to talk with both eyes.

Prices: High, but justified.

The MSRP for the T20i Gen. 2 at $190 is not cheap. However, it's often available for around 25% less than that. The T20i Gen. 2's high quality build, customizable options and great sound quality make it worth the price. While you could get a great experience with cheaper earbuds, the T20i Gen.2 will last longer than cheap and fragile ones.

These aren't a quick purchase and you might feel anxious if your earbuds get lost. These earbuds are wired which can be a problem considering the many wireless options available. The T20i Gen. 2 delivers an almost unparalleled sound quality and is well worth the money if you are looking for audio clarity.

RHA T20i in-Ear Monitors (Gen. 2) vs. Panasonic ErgoFit

The T20i headphones are great, but they may not be for everybody. Pansonic ErgoFit, which is a cheaper option that offers acceptable audio quality but a lower build quality and less comfort, can be a better choice. A pair of ErgoFit headphones can be purchased for as low as $10. While they don't have the same quality or sound, the ErgoFits are still quite good. You don't need a listening experience like studio quality if you aren't a serious audiophile. Instead, spend a few hundred to get a pair ErgoFits.

Final Verdict

For the serious listener who is always on-the-go, the T20i Gen.2 earbuds will be a great choice. The only problem with the T20i Gen. 2 earbuds is their high price and bulky weight. But that's a minor issue considering their exceptional build quality, sound quality and customisable comfort. They are now the standard for wired headphones.
