Given the wide variations in size, design, and performance among PC monitors, selecting the ideal one for your requirements can be challenging. There are several monitor kinds based on the intended usage; there is no universal monitor that would be ideal for everyone. However, some monitors are more adaptable than others, providing a variety of capabilities for both office workers and gamers.
The Dell Alienware AW3423DW is the top monitor we've examined. It's a top-notch monitor with the cutting-edge QD-OLED screen technology. With its exceptional black levels and lack of irritating blooming around bright objects, this monitor is a fantastic option for users in dimly lit spaces. Additionally, this panel offers far brighter color output than the majority of comparable panels, making movie and game material look very lifelike and vivid.
Additionally, it responds almost instantly, rendering quick motion extremely crisp with no discernible blur in the background of moving objects. It makes it a fantastic option for watching films or playing games. Additionally, it offers an HDR experience that is far superior to other displays on the market, rivaling even most TVs.
Unfortunately, it has drawbacks just like every monitor does. In SDR, it can't get very bright, therefore it can't deal with a lot of glare. You won't experience any problems as long as you have some blinds or drapes to lessen the quantity of glare.
The Samsung Odyssey Neo G8 S32BG85 is the greatest gaming monitor we've tested. Due to its quick 240Hz refresh rate, which provides crystal-clear motion with almost no discernible ghosting behind moving objects, it is an excellent gaming monitor. Additionally, it has a very low input lag that guarantees that your actions coincide with what is happening on the screen.
It boasts a wide range of gaming capabilities, such as HDMI 2.1 bandwidth for PS5 or Xbox Series S|X gaming, and it supports FreeSync and G-SYNC variable refresh rate technology, guaranteeing a fluid, almost tear-free gaming experience from almost any source.
Its high peak brightness sets it apart from the Dell Alienware AW3423DW for gaming. As a result of HDR content's good Mini LED local dimming capability, little highlights become extraordinarily brilliant and stand out from the rest of the scene.
However, there are some drawbacks to this in comparison to the Dell, including the fact that there is some blooming around bright objects in dark environments, which makes it look less appealing in a dark room.
The Gigabyte M28U is the top mid-range display we've examined. It's a fantastic 28-inch display with a native 4K resolution that produces exceptionally sharp images and text with exceptional clarity. It provides an outstanding range of functions for both office workers and gamers.
The Xbox Series X and PS5 may benefit fully from its HDMI 2.1 bandwidth capability, and it offers a quick response time with little blur behind moving objects. Additionally, it has an integrated keyboard, video, and mouse switch so you may use just one set of input devices to operate two different sources.
Although it provides an excellent gaming experience, it is a little less adaptable than the Samsung Odyssey Neo G8 S32BG85 due to its slower refresh rate and less contrast. It doesn't perform as well at low frame rates because it doesn't have native G-SYNC support.
It's also available in a 32-inch version, branded as the Gigabyte M32U, if you want something even bigger. The larger model performs almost exactly the same, however because of the larger screen, it is not quite as sharp as the 28-inch model.
The Dell S2721QS is the top PC monitor we've tested in the price range. This excellent monitor has a sizable high-resolution screen that provides excellent text clarity. You don't have to worry about glare in a bright room because of its high peak brightness and excellent control of reflections. You can easily set it up in the optimum viewing position or share your screen with someone else because to its excellent ergonomics and wide viewing angles.
It is a wonderful option for content creators on a budget because it has good accuracy before calibration and an excellent SDR color gamut. It even supports HDR, however it has a lower contrast ratio than the Samsung Odyssey Neon G8 S32BG85 or the Dell Alienware AW3423DW, making it less suitable for viewing in dimly lit environments. Low input lag makes it a good gaming monitor, but it doesn't handle motion as well as the ViewSonic XG2431.
The ViewSonic XG2431, which we evaluated, is the top cheap gaming monitor. It is an amazing gaming monitor with a 24-inch screen that handles motion really well. It boasts a quick 240Hz refresh rate, which produces overall outstanding animation with barely any blur behind moving objects.
Input lag is also extremely low, which makes for a responsive gaming experience. Although it doesn't have as many features as the Gigabyte M28U and doesn't support HDMI 2.1 bandwidth for console gamers, it's a fantastic option for PC gamers.
Check out the Dell S2722DGM if you'd prefer something a little bigger. It is comparable to the Dell S2721QS but has a quicker refresh rate and a lower native resolution. Although it offers slightly lower visual quality than the ViewSonic XG2431, it's still a fantastic gaming monitor.
The HP X24ih is the greatest budget-friendly monitor we've examined. It delivers incredibly clear motion at the maximum refresh rate and has a shockingly quick response time. It is a wonderful option for esports gamers seeking for something affordable because it also has reduced input lag.
Additionally, it has outstanding gradient handling, a high SDR color gamut, and good picture quality with exceptional accuracy right out of the box. Because of its excellent peak brightness and effective control of reflections, glare won't be an issue in a bright environment.
It has limited connectivity, and if you choose a cheap option, you'll miss out on cutting-edge connectivity options like integrated USB hubs. Additionally, it lacks sophisticated functions for office workers or gamers.
Since the stand only offers the most fundamental ergonomic adjustments, it is also not particularly versatile, like most inexpensive monitors. Despite these drawbacks, it's still a fine option if you only require a device for basic needs like gaming or business use.
