PowerShot G9X Mark II is retro-looking, until you flip it over and see that it has large touch panels covering most of its rear. Its aesthetics aren't as striking on the black model as the silver. The silver version has textured brown faux leather, which we loved. It is a nice contrast to the black only version. We were captivated by the G9 X Mark II's looks. Canon has done a great job creating a beautiful, attractive camera.
The back of your camera has a nice LCD touch panel measuring 3x2 inches. The touch panel is bright and accurate. However, it can be difficult to read in low light conditions. Unfortunately, the touchscreen must be used to navigate menus and use the camera. This is a more complicated control system than the traditional buttons due to the limited LCD screen real estate.
It's a compact, well-designed camera which is great for traveling.
This camera measures a very small 3.9x2.3x1.2inches and weighs in at 7.3oz. The camera comes with a strap, which you can use if necessary. We rarely used it. The camera is small enough to be carried in your back while you walk. However, it was not very comfortable in your front pocket. It's a compact, well-designed camera which is great for traveling.

The setup is easy and can be done entirely via the touch screen. After setting the time and date, we navigated to the menu to choose our preferred shooting quality and file format. Although you can move from date and time to shooting right away, our experience with Canon cameras means that we know what settings work best for us.
The touch panel illuminates when the camera has been powered up. This allows you to see the preview of the image you are shooting. You have a variety of shooting options to choose from, including fully manual and fully automatic. The camera can be used by simply pressing a button. Canon's great manual explains everything you can do with this camera, and provides detailed instructions on how to set it up.

PowerShot G9 X Mark II has 20.2 megapixels. It can take photos with a resolution of 5472 x3648 (2.0 MP, 3:2) and has a maximum resolution of 5472 x3648. It has a built-in equivalent of 28-84mm with an aperture range between f/2.0 to 4.9. This is not as wide as the competitors. It works well, and the lens is very good.
G9 X Mark II has excellent image quality and good detail. It also offers high ISOs, great color accuracy, and high image quality. We did find that the autofocus tracking was not always very accurate and that it could take some time for the camera's settings to be adjusted. If you want to capture action shots, the camera can struggle with moving objects. This was more apparent with indoor and low lighting. Outdoors and with natural light, the camera did better.
Canon's PowerShot G9 X Mark II captures 1920 x 1080 Full HD video at 60 frames per second, but only when it is set to camera mode. Although the video quality is excellent, the camera cropping what the lens sees while recording reduces the view of an already narrow lens.
G9 X Mark II has excellent image quality and good detail.
Although this is not a camera that can record video, the features and performance of this compact model are quite impressive and very usable. It's easy to view what is being recorded with such a big display. When shooting video, we experienced the same issues with autofocus as when taking photos. This was especially true in low-light situations. The background blurred when moving the camera indoors.
Canon cameras generally offer good software that is feature rich. The PowerShot G9 X Mark II does not disappoint. The menus and options can be accessed easily and are clearly readable. The touch panel tracking is extremely accurate due to the small buttons that some options require.
Mark II represents a significant improvement on its predecessor. The Mark II's image processor is capable of shooting at more than eight frames per second. Lag time for startup, shutter and autofocus has also been increased. Although the software and hardware improvements make it a fast camera, clearing the buffer can take more than 20 seconds when simultaneously shooting RAW or JPEG.
Bluetooth, Wi Fi, and NFC are all options for wireless connectivity. It is simple to pair your camera with your smartphone. The G9 X Mark II does not have an articulating display, so you will be able to set up your camera at more places using the Canon Camera Connect app. It's possible to view a preview of the camera on your smartphone, even though you won't be able see it on an LCD screen. This opens up many possibilities. It's also very useful for taking pictures and videos of ourselves, as you can view where you are within the frame. You can trigger the camera remotely.
Although the Canon PowerShot G9 X Mark II costs $429 (MSRP), it is still a good deal. However, the MSRP is quite a bit higher than what you would find on the street. You can find the Canon PowerShot G9 for as low as $400. It's also within the same range of similar cameras like the Panasonic Lumix DCZS70K. The price is also slightly lower than that of the Sony DSC–RX100.
The value of your camera depends on how strong you consider portability. PowerShot G9 X Mark II was designed to be a portable camera. It does a great job at this. It's very easy to use and takes great photos. Canon did an excellent job designing this camera. We believe it is well worth its higher price.
The Canon EOS Rebel T7 digital camera is another option. It comes in an identical price bracket. While the Canon PowerShot G9 X Mark II can be carried around more easily, the Canon EOS Rebel T7 DSLR camera is more expensive. The Canon EOS Rebel T7 camera is an excellent choice for serious photographers who want to invest in a quality DSLR.
The EOS Rebel T7 camera can be used with many lenses. It retails for around $400 and includes a kit 18-55mm lens f/3.5-55.6. The quality of your photos will be greatly improved by a quality lens. You can also use different lenses with the EOS Rebel T7, such as a fisheye lens that is commonly used to shoot in tight places. Canon's 40mm fixed f/2.8 STM Lens is a favorite lens of ours. It is perfect for taking depth-of-field shots, and it has amazing clarity.
The Canon EOS Rebel T7 is the best when it comes versatility and quality. But the PowerShot G9 X Mark II comes out on top for quality and portability. While we often take a Canon EOS Rebel DSLR with us, we also use it for personal photography. All it comes down to your specific needs, but both Canon EOS Rebel and Canon SLR cameras can be great for different purposes.
Grab one to put in your backpack.
Although the Canon PowerShot G9 X Mark II might seem a bit expensive, its small design and high-quality photos make it stand apart. The built-in 28-84mm F/2.0-4.9 zoom lens allows you to create special moments in high resolution. While the Canon EOS Rebel T7 is more versatile but larger than the G9, the G9 fits in your hand and can be used as a casual photographer.
